About Dr. Richards
The importance of appreciating art and the value of understanding science were instilled within me at an early age and fostered my deep curiosity. As such, I sought out learning and educational opportunities that cultivated the artistic scholar within me, introduced me to the discipline of psychology, and allowed me to blossom into the genuine and balanced professional I am today.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology (with a minor in sociology and women’s studies) in 2005 from Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA. Building from that foundation in a small liberal arts environment, I began my graduate training at Marywood University in Scranton, PA. I earned my Master of Arts degree in clinical psychology in 2008 and my Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in 2010. I also completed an American Psychological Association accredited pre-doctoral internship at the University at Buffalo Counseling Services from 2009-2010. Currently, I am a licensed psychologist in New York (#019444) and work full-time in my own private practice.
Throughout my professional career, I have been trained in a variety of theories and treatment modalities and have practiced in many clinical settings (i.e., three university counseling centers, private practice, community mental health, and an outpatient clinic). These experiences have taught me the importance of exploring each individual’s unique world view. This allows me to tailor my approach to each person’s needs and to develop an effective working relationship with each of my clients.
